Freight Security Requirements (FSR)
Freight Security Requirements (FSR) are governed by the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) to ensure that members high value goods and products are safely and securely handled, transported and stored.
Introduced at a time when companies seem to be facing increasing threats to their supply chains, the Requirements outline the processes and specifications necessary for suppliers to attain TAPA certification for their facilities and transit operations. They specify minimum acceptable security standards for products travelling through the supply chain and illustrate the methods by which those standards should be maintained. FSR involve risk assessment, a number of typical management system requirements and a set of requirements for physical security measures.
LRQA offers worldwide FSR assessment and certification - one of only four certification bodies in the world accredited by TAPA to do so. This new global TAPA certification capability further consolidates our position as the leading global provider of supply chain security management solutions.
How can complying with FSR benefit my organisation?
Many of the world’s largest high technology goods manufacturers and distributors now build FSR into their contracts, while transportation companies refer to FSR as a business differentiator and a true ‘world benchmark’. Compliance to the FSR and certification by LRQA will benefit you by:
- assurance that your management systems incorporate the latest requirements for safe and secure transportation, handling and warehousing of hi-tech and high-risk goods
- helps smooth the flow of international trade
- added visibility to prospective clients making them a cost-effective investment
TAPA is seeking recognition from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs that FSR certification also means compliance with some specific AEO requirements.
With the global TAPA agreement, LRQA now offers assessment to both FSR and ISO 28000 through an integrated package, if required. Assessing against TAPA FSR, ISO 28000 and ISPS, we act as a recognised body for a number of governments and are in a prime position to help you manage your security risks.
