The Awards for Excellence were inspired by the Island’s ‘Freedom to Flourish’ initiative and designed to recognise and celebrate the success of individuals and organisations in reaching their full potential in their business or personal lives. The winners were chosen by a panel of 15 judges drawn from government, independent consultants and local captains of industry. |
Brian Leahy, MannVend Managing Director received the award from Graham Ferguson Lacey, Chairman of the Sefton Group, award sponsor. Many of the company’s employees attended the ceremony at the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas including Sales Director, Tracey Gough. “We were all absolutely thrilled at winning the award. There was a real sense of unity on the night with many of our staff and their partners attending the ceremony so it turned into a real team-building exercise.”
MannVend achieved certification to ISO 9001 with the LRQA Small Business Scheme in 2002 and Tracey believes this played a major part in winning this award and in the company’s continuing success. “Having certification really helps focus our minds. I look at everything with an auditor’s eye and it has become second nature to look for continual improvement and preventive action. In short, having an ISO 9001 management system has become integral to the way we run our business.”
“For example, everybody now understands that it’s important to keep to agreed processes otherwise it can have a significant knock-on impact on other departments. We look forward to our assessor visiting because he always helps us and helps keeps our attention focused on our processes.”
