LRQA ISO Standards Update; News from ISO - ISO 14001 DIS approved and now moves to next stage - FDIS

Following a tweet yesterday from @ISOstandards - the official Twitter account for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) - the Draft International Standard (DIS) for international environmental management system standard ISO 14001 has been approved and will now move to the FDIS stage.

“Whilst we have no information at present as to the publication of the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS), this development represents a major milestone in the revision process for ISO 14001 and the agreement to move to FDIS means that the standard is also on track for publication next year,” said Steve Williams, LRQA System and Governance Manager. This news builds on the announcement last week that international quality management systems standard ISO 9001 is on track for FDIS publication – currently forecast for March 2015. ISO 14001 is the world’s most widely adopted environmental standard, with over 250,000 certificates worldwide.

Through LRQA’s membership of the Independent International Organisation for Certification (IIOC), LRQA participates in all of the major committees helping to shape the future of the world’ leading ISO standards including ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).
