Over the course of the ISO standards revisions, it has been widely stated that the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) for international quality management system standard ISO 9001 would be published during March/April this year. Following the ISO Technical Committee ISO/TC 176/SC 2meeting held on 16-20 February in Vilnius, we now understand that the publication of the FDIS in all languages necessary for the vote is now expected in July 2015.
So where is ISO 9001 now?
ISO 9001 is currently at FDIS, the fifth stage of a six stage process. This stage involves the ISO Technical Committee ISO/TC 176/SC 2revising the standard, reviewing all of the comments received during the DIS vote in order to produce a final draft. Once the final draft is developed, the ISO/FDIS 9001:2015 will be published which will then be put forward to all ISO National Standard Bodies Members for voting.
