LRQA ISO Standards Update: ISO 11000 and ISO 37001 make progress

In the last few days, the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) has announced that ISO 11000 (Collaborative business relationship management) has reached Committee Draft stage 2 (CD2) 2 stage and ISO 37001 (Anti-bribery) is at Committee Draft (CD) stage.

Where have these standards come from?

ISO 11000 will replace the existing British Standard BS 11000-1 which was introduced in 2010 to provide a framework for organisations of any size, in any sector, to establish and improve collaborative relationships within their supply chain.

ISO 37001 replaces BS 10500 which was published in 2011 as a response to the UK Bribery Act 2010 which became law in July 2011 to help organisations demonstrate to stakeholders that anti-bribery practices were in place and implemented adequately.

With both of these standards in the early stages of the ISO revision process, it is expected that the final versions will be published before the end of 2016. For organisations looking to certify against these standards, both BS 10500 and BS 11000-1 will be available until the transition requirements are defined by ISO.
