LRQA was proud to formally present an ISO 26000 Statement of Implementation to Doosan Babcock.
Doosan Babcock, are specialists in the delivery of engineering, aftermarket and upgrade service to the energy and process sectors. Doosan Babcock has always been socially responsible and has a dedicated internal Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program which all employees go through.
Simon Hopkins, Director HSE & CSR, said: "ISO 26000 helps us clearly define what CSR is, and importantly what it isn't."
LRQA helped very early in the planning stage of the ISO 26000 process, establishing workshops with the defined ISO 26000 implementation team. The assessment was a 2 stage affair with all relevant parts of the business spending time with the audit team.
Andy Hunt, CEO of Doosan Babcock said: "ISO 26000 brings us the guidance and framework in which to work and govern the CSR application."
The ISO 26000 standard can be a daunting prospect given the wide scope of the topics covered within the standard. LRQA worked collaboratively with Doosan Babcock to ensure that the key principles were fully understood throughout the business before undertaking a structured assessment of the implementation of socially responsible principles across the relevant core subjects covered by the standard; Organisational Governance, Human rights, Labour Practices, The Environment, Fair Operating Practices and Community Involvement and development.
LRQA was particularly impressed by the Doosan Babcock internal credo program as well as the engagement of all staff throughout the process. Implementing ISO 26000 and going through the objective assessment process provides further confidence to all stakeholders that Doosan Babcock is committed to CSR.
