Doosan Babcock is part of the Doosan Group and specialise in the delivery of engineering, aftermarket and upgrade services to the thermal, nuclear, oil and gas, petrochemical and process industries. Following a formal assessment with Lloyd’s Register, Doosan Babcock has successfully achieved ISO 45001:2018 certification.
As a client of LR for over 25 years, Doosan Babcock has already proven its quality and environmental credentials by continually improving their ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, while migrating from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001:2018 shows that health and safety is at the heart of their business philosophy and vision.
ISO 45001 marks a new era for occupational health and safety; as an international standard it promotes the importance of employees’ safety and health on the corporate agenda. Doosan Babcock recognised that the enhanced management commitment and worker participation requirements included in the new standard, would provide them with the ideal framework to further improve their proactive safety management processes, ensuring their workforce is fully engaged and safety management leadership comes from the senior management of the organisation.
Alec Bell, Senior Quality Leader at Doosan Babcock says, “The well-being of our employees is the number one priority for the business. We realised very quickly that the changes within ISO 45001 were aligned with our processes for safety and health, therefore an early adoption could support our dedication to continual improvement of our QHSE Management System. Achieving ISO 45001 shows our commitment to the safety of our people, partners and the communities where we work.”
David Derrick, UK&I Area Operations Manager at Lloyd’s Register comments, “Migrating to ISO 45001:2018 so early after the standard’s publication, is a great achievement for all those involved at Doosan Babcock. LR is proud to keep supporting Doosan Babcock with the certification of effective management systems, as they continue to foster a positive safety and quality culture.”
