LRQA’s Denis Ives, UK Manager and assessor, Simon Warlow joined members of the Police Authority and the Constabulary’s Environmental and Energy Focus Group to celebrate the news at a high profile event at police headquarters on April 5th.
Jonathon Porritt, CBE, celebrated environmentalist and chair of the UK Sustainable Development Commission formally presented the ISO 14001 certificate to the Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary, Dr Timothy Brain.
Dr Brain commenting on the recent success said: “The Constabulary now has a structured environmental management system that is integrated within the organisation. I am particularly pleased that the partnership between the Gloucestershire Constabulary and LRQA will continue for our mutual benefit.”
Mandy Gibbs, Assistant Buildings Manager, Environment and Tony Jones, Force Estates Manager worked closely in implementing the EMS over a two-year period. This has seen the introduction of measures such as mandatory training to staff on the force’s environmental policies, and a drive on recycling and energy saving. An Environmental and Energy Management Focus group has also been set up meeting on a quarterly basis to ensure the Force continues its commitment to environmental issues.
