As part of its commitment to increasing environmental awareness and responsibility, the Military Air Solutions (MAS) division of BAE Systems is running a poster competition within eleven local schools close to its locations.
The theme is environmental responsibility and awareness and for 12 budding environmentalists they will have the opportunity of having their winning design included on BAE’s environmental calendar poster for 2008.
As the ISO 14001 certification body for Military Air Solutions, LRQA were approached to lend its name and support to the competition. Julian Massey, LRQA assessment manager joined the Safety, Health and Environment team at the company as one of the judges.
“It is good to spread the environmental message to our young people. LRQA was pleased to be asked to be involved in the project and I was delighted at the very high quality of the designs and the thought given by the young people who submitted their designs,” he explained.
Andrew Radcliffe at BAE Systems who has organised the competition said: “The artwork has been provided by primary schools from in our local communities. The pictures highlight the contribution that our employees, customers and suppliers can make towards Military Air Solutions' success in reducing its impacts on the environment. This is in line with our commitment to gaining certification to ISO 14001 across all sites with LRQA.”
