The Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) is one of two highly anticipated final rules released in 2015 under the FDA’s new Food Safety Modernization Act.
From the onset, the authors of the Act looked to shift the US’s emphasis on food safety from reacting to incidents to preventing their occurrence. The new regulations have transferred some of the accountability away from the government to food companies and their importers by requiring members of the food supply chain community to monitor each other’s practices.
