TickITplus

TickITplus replaces the TickIT scheme which was introduced around 20 years ago as guidance to ISO 9001 for the software development industry. The new scheme has introduced for the first time a tiered approach to process maturity with organisations able to be externally assessed against a series of levels ranging from Foundation through to Platinum.

This approach allows organisations to more easily demonstrate their capability and process maturity, while providing a solid basis for organisational improvements.

The upgraded scheme is underpinned by a Base Process Library (BPL) which currently contains 22 base processes. The BPL is a key element of the scheme which organisations used to create their Process Reference Models.

LRQA were closely involved with the development of the scheme and our technical specialist was a member of the working group that helped developed the requirements. We were the external body responsible for certifying the first UK company to TickITplus in December 2010 and subsequently were one of the first to gain UKAS accreditation for the Scheme in May 2011.

We are therefore well placed to provide the support needed to guide organisations through the changed requirements with our range of training courses and gap analysis service.

How can TickITplus benefit my organisation?

The TickITplus scheme takes into account the changes that have taken place since the launch of the original TickIT scheme. The upgraded scheme has been designed with the diverse needs of the modern IT industry in mind and is suitable for software developers and suppliers of IT products and services.

The scheme provides significant benefits for those organisations looking for a best practice model with a capability dimension enabling access to markets requiring ISO 15504 compliance, such as CMMI and SPICE.

TickITplus gives entry level access to capability grading for smaller and medium sized organisations and cost savings for those already pursuing both ISO 9001 and Capability Maturity Measurements.

Currently we perform assessments at TickITplus Foundation Level, against the Systems and Software Development and Support Profile. The remaining Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum capability levels and other Profiles will become available shortly.

Existing TickIT certified clients, will need to make the transition to the new TickITplus Foundation level by 2014.
