This year alone AMEC have used LRQA for training purposes for the following courses:
1 Eight staff members attended an Introduction to OHSAS 18001 in support of our new Safety Management System approval
2 LRQA arranged In-Company bespoke training for eight people on Aspects and Impacts identification to support our ongoing approval to ISO 14001
3 Twelve Members of staff attended Internal Auditing to support our engineering assurance programme, designed to reflect our audit processes and procedures
The first two training courses were for the benefit of the greater Health Safety, Quality and Environmental community, but the Internal Auditing course was designed for and delivered to our engineering discipline managers in Aberdeen.
Engineering community are a motivated team and decided upon appropriate training to develop and initiate an assurance programme consisting of two audits of two levels. The first level was at an engineering management system level (peer and process reviews). The second level addressed procedural compliance. Although a structured procedure and checklists have been developed it was considered important to ensure that all those conducting the audits had an insight to audit techniques to ensure a consistent standard of output could be achieved.
LRQA as our approval body has been our first point for such training, and generally delivered in house. In this instance our QMS assessor opened the door that facilitated our first meeting with the LRQA trainer. From there the bespoke In-Company one day internal auditor training for our engineers was realised.
LRQA has been our approval body now for over 20 years, and recent interaction with our account manager, support staff and our co-ordinator assessor has never been better. A good and proactive relationship with our approval body has brought benefits to both organisations and adding training to this relationship can only serve to strengthen that relationship.
The Internal Auditor training on the day went well. The Trainer, as always, demonstrated a great knowledge of the standards and topics being discussed. The courses are often tailored made to meet our company needs, processes and procedure.
