frequently asked questions

These are questions frequently asked by customers. They are divided into questions relating to public events, and in-company events respectively. For further information, or if you have a question not answered here, please contact one of our training advisors on 0800 328 6543.

Public events questions:

What is IRCA and what does it mean?

IRCA stands for the International Register of Certificated Auditors. When a course has the IRCA logo, it denotes the course is certified by the IRCA Registration Governing Board and successful completion of the course fulfils the formal training requirement for individuals seeking registration under the IRCA Auditor Registration Scheme. For further information on IRCA membership please refer to www.irca.org.

What is IEMA and what does this mean?

When a course has the IEMA Logo, it denotes that the course is approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). For further information on IEMA membership please refer to www.iema.net.

Where are the Public Events delivered?

Our Public training events are delivered all over the country at designated venues, carefully selected to ensure a very high standard in comfortable surroundings. We will deliver events in areas which we feel have the demand for training.

Do any of the events have Pre-Course work?

Yes. Pre-course preparation is required for the following:

  • All Auditor / Lead Auditor courses
  • Internal QMS Auditor – Advanced
  • QMS Lead Auditor – Advanced
  • Managing Your Audit System
  • EFQM Excellence Assessor Training
  • Environmental Management Systems Auditor Training

Pre-course preparation is an essential part of the learning experience and is provided to give participants the best opportunity to achieve their objectives. Completion of the pre-course learning pack for the Auditor / Lead Auditor courses can greatly improve performance during the course and in the exam.

Are there any exams at the end of the courses?

All of our IRCA and IEMA events have exams on the final day of the event.

Do we receive certificates upon completion of an event?

Yes; certificates are issued for all training events, except for Auditor / Lead Auditor courses where the participant has not been successful in the continuous assessment during the course.

Do we have to complete the whole course?

For IRCA and IEMA registered course, failure to attend the whole of the programme would result in failure of the course and no certificate would be issued. These are IRCA & IEMA requirements. For other courses there is no specific rule but leaving early or arriving late tends to disrupt the rest of the group and missing a significant proportion of the course programme would result in no certificate being issued. All of our training events are delivered over a period of time which we feel is suitable to the amount of learning that is required. We recommend that delegates complete 100% of the course, especially on the IRCA and IEMA events where only 100% attendance will constitute as a pass.

Do the courses lead to any external accreditation?

For IRCA & IEMA registered courses, the course represents the formal training requirement needed for auditor registration.

The majority of our Auditing courses are approved by either IRCA or IEMA. Upon successful completion of one of these events, delegates will be eligible to apply for membership with one of these professional bodies. For further information on the membership schemes please refer as appropriate to www.irca.org or www.iema.net.

What are CPD points?

CPD means Continuing Professional Development. Members of professional bodies such as the Institute of Quality Assurance (IQA) are required to provide evidence of CPD through attendance of training courses, research, seminars etc.

Do any of the courses have evening work?

All of the Lead Auditor events and the 3-day EMS Auditor Training event will all have evening work ranging from 1-2 hours per night.

Is food provided at the training event?

Refreshments are provided at intervals throughout the day as well as a hot buffet lunch on each day of the course. Special dietary requirements may be catered for if highlighted at time of booking.

What factors do you take into consideration when choosing venues?

The training venues receive our careful attention. We want you to be comfortable and well looked after, so that you are able to give your full attention to the course. Our 5-day events are placed at venues with facilities to help you to relax, and wherever possible we ensure that there is a leisure club or gymnasium and gardens. We carefully monitor customer feedback to ensure our high standards are maintained, and welcome any recommendations for improvement.

Can accommodation be arranged on all events?

Where training takes place over two days or more we will be pleased to organise your accommodation, this service is free of charge. Where possible the accommodation is arranged at the same venue as the training event.

What style of delivery do the trainers follow?

We have predominantly full time professional trainers whose training style takes a modern approach to adult learning incorporating a mix of presentation and practical work. All trainers will endeavour to meet participants’ individual needs and make subjects as relevant as possible to them and their industry sector.

All of our trainers are practising assessors, and express this knowledge in the delivery of the event, making them as practical and enjoyable as possible. We pride ourselves on the calibre of our trainers who understand the needs of the individuals and organisations and the areas training can address.

Do we have to be certificated in order to attend LRQA training events?

LRQA training events are open to all. Many of our training customers, whilst happy with their certification body for assessment, have made LRQA Training Services their preferred training provider.

Are we able to wait list ourselves on events which are already full?

If a course is already at full capacity, we are happy to wait list up to 2 delegates in the event of a cancellation or transfer arising. Due to volumes, we would only contact you once wait listed, if a place becomes available on the course. In the case that a place does not become free we would also recommend that you book on to an event with availability to ensure that you receive the required training.

What payment methods are there available?

We accept the following methods of payment: Purchase Order / Invoice, MasterCard / Visa Card or a Cheque payable to LRQA Training Services. Please note that payment is required before attendance on any Public training event.

How many delegates can I book on a public course?

We allow up to a maximum of 4 delegates from anyone company on a Public event. This is to ensure that delegates on courses are able to network with lots of people with similar interests from many different organisations. Should you have 5 or more delegates requiring the same training, and you are able to release them all at the same time, then you may wish to consider In-company training.

How can Training Services help auditors within their live environment?

In addition to the standard auditing events that we offer in our brochures, we can also provide Live Tutored Audit Training. This will enable you to carry out a live audit of your own management system, while a professional LRQA auditor will give support and advice, to help you to plan, conduct and report the audit.
