Management Systems - Still A Risky Business!
On Thursday 19th June 2008, LRQA Training Services ran it fourth Public Seminar entitled Management Systems – Still A Risky Business! at Staverton Park, Daventry.
The structure of the seminar was divided into two main parts. The morning session was made up of three main presentations lasting approximately an hour each, delivered to the entire audience of over seventy attendees. The first presentation ‘Training Needs Analysis’ was delivered by Peter Lomas, Director of Learning Processes Limited. He gave a very clear and concise overview of the significance and role of TNA. Momcilo Kovacevic then delivered a session of BS25999 – Business Continuity Management using video to help demonstrate BCM in action.
The seminar continued after lunch with a presentation by Albert Fessey on ISO 9001:2008 – An Update. Albert’s light hearted and entertaining approach went down extremely well with the audience, some of who said “it was too short”!
Following Albert’s presentation Dave Sherring formally wrapped up the seminar and one lucky individual walked away with a digital picture frame having won the prize draw.
The remainder of the day was less formal and set up to allow individuals to attend one of five themed presentations again lasting approximately an hour. An overview was provided of ISO 27001 – Information Security Systems by Doug Hodson and ISO 28000 – Security Management Systems by Peter Pearce a consultant from Paragon Consultants. Dave Sherring was on hand to cover British Retail Consortium Standards. Sarah Jones and Cheryl Savage teamed up to provide an update on the latest Environmental Legislation. Problem Solving Tools & Techniques – A Practical Demonstration was the last of the themed presentations. This session was delivered by Momcilo Kovacevic who managed to keep the audience motivated and involved throughout.
Once again the seminar proved to be a great success as indicated by some of the attendees comments;
- "I will be looking to arrange training after this enlightening and interesting 'taster'!"
- "Very well organised, put together and expertly delivered"
- "Structure of event with joint sessions splitting off to specialist areas was very good"
- "Provides good opportunity for networking"
Thanks to all those who participated on the day and look forward to seeing you at the next event!!!
